We have created age categories that we feel most fairly represent progress and performance experience as students grow. It’s tough for young performers when they’re up against students’ four years their senior so we’ve kept our age groups small so that they feel seen and fairly judged against their peers. We also guarantee that will not merge age categories for awards!
OUR AGE GROUPS RUN AS FOLLOWS
- ELEMENTARY – this section is for students’ in school years 2 and 3 at the time of the competition, ages 6 to 8 years old.
- MINIS – this section is for students’ in school years 4 and 5 at the time of the competition, ages 8 to 10 years old.
- JUNIORS – this section is for students’ in school years 6 and 7 at the time of the competition, ages 10 to 12 years old.
- INTERS – this section is for students’ in school years 8 and 9 at the time of the competition, ages 12 to 14 years old.
- TEENS – this section is for students’ in school years 10 and 11 at the time of the competition, ages 14 to 16 years old.
- SENIORS – this section is for students’ in school years 12 and 13 (sixth form) at the time of the competition, ages 16 to 18 years old.
Please be aware that if a concern arises that a dancer is not the age we’ve been informed of, they must be able to provide proof of ID upon request. A photo of a birth certificate or passport on a parents’ phone would be sufficient. We do not need a physical copy nor would we store that information.
