Dance Creative Events was an idea that was born out of wanting to eliminate issues that we as teachers and parents had come up against at events. We wanted to create a competition to rival all others and are confident you’ll have the most amazing time at our event!
STUDIO OWNERS, LET’S HELP YOU OUT!
So, how do we make it easier for studio owners? First things’ first, let’s talk money. Isn’t it frustrating having to chase money from parents that then goes into your account and straight out to the competition? You do all of that work and then you don’t get anything for it, plus it can make your turnover look higher too. We totally get it! So, guess what? You do not have to handle ANY of the payments! That’s right, we take care of it all for you.
How do we do that? Once you’re signed up, you submit all of your entries then we pop you over a link to send to your parents. This is a form they complete that includes their contact details and their declaration that their child is fit-to-perform. Based on the entries you provided us with, we then bill your parents’ directly and they simply pay their fees online. How easy is that?
There is a non-refundable deposit due directly from the studio of £50.00 upon signing up for our competition. Aside from that all other money/fees are handled by us directly with parents.
We will not send parents any other information or spam them with mail they don’t need so please ensure your parents and carers’ understand that we are just managing payments and reducing your workload leaving you more time to focus on the stuff you love most, like teaching their children!
We are super on top of safeguarding and we want parents and teachers to be assured that we take their child’s safety and wellbeing extremely seriously. Whilst the ultimate responsibility of students backstage is on the studio, we will ensure a safe environment, starting with strict safeguarding rules. Unless parents and staff have adequate checks to be allowed backstage according to that counties licensing rules, they will NOT be allowed backstage.
Protecting children is important and we all have a shared responsibility to safeguard them. For this reason, we have set some expectations around costuming as well
- Costumes should be age appropriate and protect the students modesty. They should be well-fastened and as secure as possible to prevent any mishaps on stage.
- All students should wear appropriate underwear and or nude leotards for backstage. Again, changing spaces may be shared and adults and other students’ that children don’t know from different schools may also be in the same space. Please therefore ensure an appropriate modesty layer of some sort is worn. They absolutely will NOT be marked down if a strap of this modesty layer is showing etc, so do not worry about that.
- We strongly recommend wearing tights with any costumes where it sits along their knicker line such as leotards.
PARENTS, LET’S HELP YOU OUT TOO!
Have you ever turned up at competition and realised you forgot something?! The dread can really kick in, so don’t worry, we have you covered. We will have a selection of tights and hair accessories such as pins and grips available to buy on the day too for those last minute moments.
Awards… they can go on right? It always seems to be one way or the other, they’re sped through so quickly as there’s too many awards crammed in and no one gets a chance to take in the moment or they’re so slow and drag on… Let’s face it, no one wants to be sitting with tired children until 10pm so we will not make you do that! If the day is running to our maximum hours, we’ll run awards twice each day. If it’s running at less than maximum capacity we’ll run awards once per day at the end. On those occasions, we’ll be looking to finish around 6pm instead.
Talking of awards, what are our awards like? Well, here’s what you need to know…
Award for first place: for first place in each category, they will receive a trophy, a medal and a rosette.
Award for Second Place: for second place students’ receive a medal and a rosette!
Award for Third Place: for third place students’ receive a medal and a rosette.
What about duets, trios, quartets, quintets and groups? For any duets, trios and groups, 1st place will receive 1 trophy for the piece, medals for everyone in the piece and a rosette for every member too. For second and third place, all participants will receive a medal and a rosette.
EVERYONE who participates in the competition will be awarded a certificate as well, regardless of placement.
FEEDBACK – Your studio will receive your feedback and score sheets digitally within 2 weeks of the competition. This is useful and allows you to see what went well and where improvements can be made.
